A synthesis of two things that are inherently blue. The skies fade out in deep hues as the sun sets ; indigo that mirrors this mood and appears layer after layer, in transition. It’s the kind of blue that intoxicates, calmly.
Hand-spun woolen yarn from Khamir in Kutch is dyed in indigo with a varied gradation scale while resisting parts of the spools with tied thread much like the technique of ikat, to create an impression of stars in the sky. Structured in plain, twill and basket weaves, one gauze structure explores color passing through the weaves and one denser panel metamorphoses like the blue hour, slow and never all at once.
